Food?

Food? I guess everyone knows what food is, It is the one that makes our stomachs explode or pop. Kidding aside, food is anything that we can swallow, but it has to provide nutritional support for the body or else, it will be called a poison, any substance that causes harmful effects to organisms. Food builds our body, but poison destroys it. That is the difference I think. What about other things that we can swallow? You can't eat soil, rocks and metals, right? Why is that? It's because these are not food. They are not edible and cannot be digested by our body systems. With this in mind, I am here to show what I believe is food.

The number 1 source of food are plants. Plants are everywhere, no plant=no life. But not all plants are edible, so be careful if you are alone in the jungle without any supplies. Plants provide us with vitamins and minerals, and some even provide proteins and carbohydrates. We can eat almost every part of the plant, from the roots to the very tip of the plant. Plants give us rice, spices, green leafy vegetables and colorful fruits. Some may taste awful but they give the most nutrients, so don't mind the taste, think about the benefits.

The second one, and the last I think, are the animals. Animals provide provide us proteins that make our bodies strong. There is a large variety of animals around us. Unfortunately for them, big or small, we eat them. They should be cooked though, but some can be eaten raw like mollusks, namely squids and octopuses, in Japan or some worms in South America. Most of us eat farm animals because they are easy to tame and they won't go extinct or be erased in the environment. Some eat animals caught in the wild, fishes, insects and even sharks(fin part to be exact) are all in this category.

Here they are, our source of food. As you can see, they are not man made. So please be reminded that our resources are limited, get only what you can handle so you won't waste anything. Also, be considerate and help stop pollution so we can live normally and the future generations to follow, with clean food in our tables.
