Fiesta! Fiesta!

The Philippine Fiestas being part of our county’s culture played a major role in our countrymen’s lives. All year round Filipinos are celebrating fiesta and some of these festivals are really huge and well-known nationally and internationally that attract many foreign tourists. In every part of the country, they celebrate these fiestas differently because Filipinos are very creative and innovative. Almost all town fiestas are usually celebrated during the feast of the patron saint of the town. This is the culture that we have inherited from the Spaniards for centuries and until now, this still becomes our practice.

In our town in Tarlac, we celebrate our fiesta on the 10th day of September because we have San Nicholas de Tolentino as our patron saint. Almost all the people become busy cooking, decorating, cleaning and doing some stuff for the fiesta. Parades are being made to showcase the liveliness of the fiesta. I would really love to eat during our fiesta because almost all my favorite dishes were cooked and the desserts would sweeten my day but after this big event people would go back to the original setup of their lives. The people would enjoy and have fun during this day as if there would be no tomorrow.

Fiesta is the tradition I really admired to Filipinos because even on the times of hardships, they would still pursue this event and do something for them to have it celebrated. Fiestas mark the calendar of every Filipino. Filipinos are determined by these fiestas for they are part of our culture. These are things that made Filipinos unique.
