This is a very common expression among us, Filipinos. It only shows our love for talking. Oh yes! We talk a lot about everything and anything under the sun, from politics to music, from general to specific and even personal experiences are being shared to others: crushes, boyfriends, first kiss and everything else. Name it, we have already talked about it. Even other people's lives became a subject of this matter.
Gossiping or more popularly known as "chismisan" is a latent part of our Filipino culture. Something that we are so used in doing that without us consciously knowing becomes a habit. I observed among Filipinos that gossiping serves as our way to express our ill-feelings towards another person but without him knowing it.
Delicadeza is a trait that is shaped in us by our culture. It encourages us to raise unpleasant topics indirectly, or better still, not raise them at all. One thing that I admire from other nationalities is their frankness when it comes to matters that are awkward to discuss. Gossiping and back-stabbing are not prominent in their culture. They always say what they think and feel to the person directly involved.
If only we have the same attitude that they have, I'm pretty sure that it will save us from lots of misunderstandings and arguments. It would definitely be easier for our country to attain its main goal which is to be the best among the rest.
